In the midst of the war tensions between Russia and Ukraine, a cyber war is underway.
Ukraine’s information security center reported that a cyber attack shut down the ministry’s website on Tuesday as well as two banks.
In a statement, the Ukrainian Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security of the ministry of culture did not name the attacker, but indicated that Russia was responsible for the attack, Reuters reported.
“It is not ruled out that the aggressor used tactics of little dirty tricks because its aggressive plans are not working out on a large scale,” it said.
The Ukrainian government has blamed Moscow for similar attacks in the past, since Russia began massing more than 100,000 troops near its border.
The Ukrainian defence ministry website was under maintenance, according to a message on the home page.
According to a ministry tweet, its website had come under a cyber attack, and it was working to restore website access.
According to the Oshadbank, some of its systems were slowed down by the cyber attack.
Users of Privatbank complained that payments and an app had problems as well. The bank did not respond immediately.
