Troy Hunt, founder of Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) has said, he is helping Mozilla to find out users data has been compromised or not.

I’m really happy to see Firefox integrating with HIBP in this fashion, not just to get it in front of as many people as possible, but because I have a great deal of respect for their contributions to the technology community. In particular, Mozilla was instrumental in the birth of Let’s Encrypt, the free and open certificate authority that’s massively increased the adoption of HTTPS on the web.

According to Hunt, HIBP service testing record with 5 Billion E-mail address, and there was 3 Billion unique Email address.

What is Firefox Monitor?

Firefox Monitor will be integrating with HIBP. It is the First step to keep your online accounts safe is knowing what you are up against. You just enter your Email ID to get the result as well as recommendation to secure your email account.

Currently, Mozilla is testing the Monitor feature and trying to make it available by the next week. Mozilla will invite 250,00 users mainly from United States (US) to try out Monitor features, if the testing becomes successful then the service will be available to all Mozilla Firefox users.

Mozilla Team is also working with CloudFlare to create a method of anonymity data sharing for Firefox Monitor.

Troy had announced in March that he would partner with 1Password. It is password manager which provides a place for users to store various passwords in one place. In the blog, he said, users can search HIBP directly from 1Password watchtower feature in the web version.

1Password is using Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) to find compromise accounts based on E-mail address. It works without sharing your E-mail address with others.

Whereas Mozilla will announce Firefox 61 official for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms soon with several bug fixes and new features.
