Top Cyber Security News Sites for Industry Advertisers

Top Cybersecurity News Websites

The cybersecurity industry has been experiencing rapid growth over the past decade, with new cyber security startups entering the market and joining hundreds of established cyber security companies. This has led to increased competition among vendors and solution providers, driving up advertising costs. As a result, it is important for cybersecurity marketers to carefully prioritize their marketing spend.

To help with this, we have compiled a list of the top cybersecurity news websites according to their stats and effectiveness. These websites can be a valuable resource for reaching a wide audience of industry professionals and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the field.

How did we create this list?

We looked at factors such as the size and engagement of their audience, the depth and breadth of their coverage of the cybersecurity industry, and the overall value they offer to marketers looking to promote their products and services. These factors were taken into consideration when ranking the websites and determining their place on the list.

  1. We conducted an audit of each website using SimilarWeb to obtain website traffic stats and visited their social profiles on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. This allowed us to gather data on the size and engagement of their audience, as well as the level of activity and engagement on their social media channels.
  2. We explored the media kit for each website. This allowed us to gather information on the advertising opportunities and options available on each website, as well as the pricing and audience demographics.
  3. We also surveyed 150 cybersecurity marketers. These surveys asked the marketers to rate each website in terms of advertising effectiveness and cost vs. value. This allowed us to gather insights and perspectives from industry professionals on the effectiveness of each website as an advertising platform.
  4. This also included evaluating the types of articles and information they provide, the frequency of updates, and the overall quality of their content.

Who is not included in this list?

As such, not all websites in the cybersecurity industry are included on this list. This is not intended as a definitive or comprehensive list of all websites in the industry, but rather a curated selection of the top websites according to our criteria and assessment. So, websites that did not meet the criteria or did not score highly in our assessment were not included on the list.

This includes:

  1. Websites owned by cyber security vendors, like NakedSecurity and WeLiveSecurity, because these websites are primarily focused on promoting the researches, products and services of the vendor.
  2. Tech news websites that have some coverage of cybersecurity but are not focused primarily on the topic are not included on this list. This is because these websites may not offer as comprehensive or in-depth coverage of the cybersecurity industry, and may not reach as large or engaged an audience of cybersecurity professionals.
  3. Personal cybersecurity blogs like Krebs on Security and Schneier on security because these blogs are typically written by individual experts and are focused on their personal perspectives and insights, rather than providing comprehensive news and analysis of the industry.

After conducting an audit of each website, exploring their media kit, and surveying 150 cybersecurity marketers, we decided to present the top 10 websites (out of 30 websites we audited) with the highest ranking, ordered from the best ranking website to the least.
