Why can't I check HTTP websites?
When you're on an HTTPS page (like this one), browsers block requests to HTTP sites for security. This is called "mixed content blocking." Almost all major websites now use HTTPS, so this rarely affects real-world use.
Is this tool accurate?
Yes. We use a direct image-loading technique that tests real HTTPS connectivity. If the site loads an image (even a 404), it's online. If it times out or fails, it's likely down.
What if a site blocks image loading?
Some sites block external image requests, but they still respond to the initial connection. Our timeout-based method detects whether the server is reachable, regardless of content blocking.
